Bottling Day at La Vignazza: A Behind-the-Scenes Peek at Our Nearest Winery

La Vignazza meaning the vineyard in Lombard is our closest wine making winery a family owned business who run and operate almost all of the operations by themselves. The business has been passed down through generations and today we get to see the latest two generations at work!

Autumn mist blankets the lower parts of the hills. This mist is called “Nebbia” in Italian and is where the Nebbiolo grape native to the area gets it’s name from.

The La Vignazza vineyards cover most of the hills of Alfiano Natta and all are walkable making a great way to see the local area and also experience first hand some of the local artisan businesses.

The family who own La Vignazza are the Cosseta family's and their farm was first registered in the 1960s, when the first investments began, including the purchase of the land surrounding the farmhouse.

In 1998, the business took shape, and the first wines began to be bottled, accompanying the bulk wine sales in demijohns. The winemaking process, like their passion, has never stopped. Thanks to tradition and innovation, they have moved from cement vats to temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.

Behind the Scenes at Bottling Day.

I was really excited to get to see behind the scenes at our one of our local wineries, & we are so happy to have got to know the Cosseta family over the years and seeing the growth & success of this successful family business, as they have introduced new wines, new methods of fermentation and moving the La Vignazza brand on, carefully and with love & respect for it’s heritage. I felt privileged to get to see behind the scenes…

One of the many bottling days at La Vignazza in Alfiano Natta, today it’s Nebbiolo wine. Giulia briefly describiing the process.

The family hard at work, Giulia; Giulia Cosseta: Part of the newest generation driving the winery's modern operations, marketing, and public presence together with brother Gabriele Cosseta (not pictured): Also representing the youngest generation, working alongside Giulia to manage the family's 80 hectares of land, briefly describes the process of the day, many thousands of bottles will be bottled today and you can see her father Arturo helping to load the bottles and mother Patrizia complete the family workload at the end of the machine loading the bottles into crates for labelling!
